Technology In The Shoes continued... Nike has taken some of the most durable and lightweight foam and rubber and used it in the production of the shock looking structures in the SHOX line of shoes. Where did they get it from? With a little digging I have discovered that Nike has utilized the very same foam material used in the suspension of today’s NASCAR racing cars. In addition, to give the foam it’s uncanny stability and resilience after being compressed, Nike has used reinforcing plates at the top and bottom of each foam column. These fortifying plates are made with the same materials and technologies found in the spikes of track shoes. Further more, these shoes have been a long time in the making. It took Nike 16 years to perfect this technology. So what more can I say about these shoes? Well I have 6 pairs of these babies and they have all been tested at the gym and on the basketball court. All I can say is that it was money well spent. So the next time you see these shoes on the store shelf, or on someone’s feet, I hope you think of them as cool too. If they’re a little too futuristic for you, it’s understandable, however the reason for writing this article was to bring to light that these shoes actually do provide help and are not just hype.
